Another warm one

Tuesday, May 21, 2013

It was in the 80s again today. Cooper really dislikes this weather. He would rather have snow. I still managed to walk him over 7 miles. I walked over 9 miles, as I took a quick walk along the lake between appointments. Speaking of appointments... I had my Wellness checkup with the doctor today. He was pleased with my progress, although he harped on my cholesterol level. My LDL is a little high still. Not bad, but not where he wants it to be. It IS dropping though, so I resisted the idea of taking a pill for it since it is dropping with diet and exercise. I don't like taking pills. I don't like getting poked with needles either, but I have to go back June 3rd to have another blood test. I guess I shouldn't complain, as that will be a month between blood tests, and at times I have had to have them several times a week. ugh!

It is trying to rain now, so hopefully this heat will ease a little and I can walk Cooper a little more tomorrow. I really need to get to the gym, or go for a run outside tomorrow. My excuse lately has been that I haven't been sleeping well, and that always saps my energy, and combined with the heat... Anyways, that is just an excuse. The gym is air conditioned after all, and I always feel energized after a workout. So, those excuses don't hold much weight. Blargh! I need to just suck it up and do it.

I have trouble walking a block, so the thought of you walking for seven miles is absolutely awesome! Concentrate on all the good things you accomplish (improving cholesterol without meds is definitely an accomplishment!!!) and don't beat yourself up for those things you are struggling with. Talking to yourself in negative terms doesn't help, and may even be contributing to any fatigue and 'blahs' you may feel. You are terrific-- and you will meet your goals! Believe it!

I do not like taking pills either! That was one of my big motivations for going gluten free and vegan and it worked too! I was able to get off of a life long medication!! emoticon WE CAN DO THIS!!! You are doing awesome!! emoticon

one of my tricks in hot weather ( we don't have A/C) is to have some pillowcases or cloth cold packs (like a Magic Bag) on hand in the freezer and put them in the beds when I'm settling the kids. They don't stay cold all night, but sure help everyone drift off- wondering if some sort of cool pack might make Cooper happier

You know I did a funny thing tonight that was surprisingly effective. I had a whole bunch of excuses not to exercise but I hate reporting 0 exercise on our 5% team. SO I reported 20 minutes which of course I then felt that I HAD to do today. I told myself 20 minutes is easy I will do it tonight and because I'd already reported it, it really forced me to do it!
