God Bless Oklahoma

Tuesday, May 21, 2013

I have been sitting here this evening watching an NBC news special about the devastation in Oklahoma. I am completely humbled by watching and listening to what these people have to say. Just one day ago, their town for all intents and purposes was wiped off the face of this Earth. They have lost homes, cars, pets, personal belongings, friends and relatives, and God bless them even children. Yet they stand before the TV cameras saying that they are blessed to be alive. They are not angry, they are not placing blame, they are sad, yet in the face of this wretched tragedy they are unfailingly resilient. A number of people that were interviewed actually said it was only stuff and it could be replaced and that they can and they will rebuild.... again. (They were hit with a similar devastating tornado in 1990). As they grieve for those who were lost, today they hold their children and loved ones a little closer with an unbelievably strong faith that will carry them through this. They are strong, they are fearless, highly motivated and unfailing in their desire to go on to be successful and make the very best of this life they have been given. Sound familiar Sparklers? Take full advantage of all you have been given. Never let one day go by without giving it 100%, be strong, stay motivated, and never, never give up. God had given you this beautiful life, honor those lost by being the best person that you can possibly be. Keep the Spark alive!!

Thank you for your kind words. I have lived in North central OK all my life. I have relatives who weathered the storm in Moore. They are safe and that is all that matters. I have always been very proud to be from Oklahoma and am even more so now. As we try to take care of our own, there has been such an outpouring of prayer, donations and help from across our great nation. So as you say,God bless Oklahoma and God Bless the U.S.A.!

Very true and you said it well emoticon
I think we've all been watching the news and worrying about those in the path of the tornadoes and those dealing with the devastation left behind. I've always been amazed at the resilience of the human spirit in times of adversity and the ability to pick yourself up and go on when there isn't any other choice. You're right though, we all need to remember we have that ability deep inside all of us and should take advantage of and appreciate what we have, help those in need when we can and strive to be the best person we can be.
