Pride Comes Before A Fall

Tuesday, May 21, 2013

Well, the third Zumba lesson was also a joy although the saying, 'Pride comes before a fall' seems to be accurate. There I was, enjoying myself, unfortunately close to the front, when I slipped and landed on my side.

I did the standard thing: took a second to process why the world was sideways, another to right myself, one more to check nothing was broken and then a few more to style it out. I'm pretty sure I pulled it off with aplomb.

My elbow and hip will probably have fair old bruises on them but obviously the main dent has been to my pride. Still, the worst (well, almost the worst, the worst would be falling over, taking someone with me and breaking a bone in their body or... well I could run doomsday scenarios all night...) that could have happened to me has happened. I fell over in class and will now forever be known as 'That Girl That Fell Over'. Ah well. It had to happen to someone.

Please! I TEACH zumba and once fell down DURING THE WARMUP. Yeah. Real high intensity there (not). It was mortifying. Then there's the instructor who fell OFF STAGE at an event with 350 people! One minute she was there...the next she was between the stage and wall. Don't worry, it happens!!!! People, students especially, are sooooo worried about getting the moves right themselves, no one will even remember your mishap. emoticon Glad you're OK.

I'm glad you are ok! But don't worry about it so much. We all fall down sometimes. I'm sure you are not he first to fall down in that class and will definitely not be the last so I doubt you will be remembered as the girl who fell down. You are doing great! Just laugh it off and get back in there! :)

glad the damage wasn't too bad. I feel your wounded pride, I go to "body balance" to improve things but still need to hold onto the wall!
keep dancing, it's good for the soul.
