what a surprise!!!

Tuesday, May 21, 2013

Good Day!! DS called me in tears. Good tears. This afternoon his brigade gave him a ceremony which he did not know. They gave him a flag, a huge award and the entire brigade saluted him. They retired him today. After how he had been treated by his unit. He could not believe it. He was given his honorable discharge papers.
I cried with him on the phone. He has done so much for his unit and he was breaking down with all the verbal abuse. But he made it. He goes on leave tomorrow and it is his birthday. What a wonderful birthday present!! Thank you God! This had to be your work. He is officially out the first part of June. I do believe in miracle. He needed some recognition for all the tireless work he has done in his unit. He cleaned helicopter parts even when he could not climb on the helicopter. There is much he did in Iraq that he was rewarded with commendations. I could go on and on. Greg always said he was a very good soldier. But now he knows the Army knows it too. I am so happy for this end result. He needed it to end this way. Thank you God for hanging in there for my family. It has been a hard emotional struggle to see your son so down and not knowing what to do. It is over finally. emoticon emoticon
