Day 1 - Post Detox

Last night, as I was making dinner for the family, I tried to determine how to modify the meal so that I could eat it. After thinking of a bunch of different things, I thought it would probably be easier to just make some juice, for heaven's sake, like I had been doing.
But, at this phase of the detox, one is 'supposed' to gradually add back 'regular' foods in small amounts to find out which if any are problematic. I started with coffee in the morning. It tasted good. I didn't notice that it made much of a difference in terms of how I felt, except that I decided that I probably didn't need 4 cups every morning, like I had been having. I think I can just do with enjoying 1 cup (mug) a couple of times a week, because I really did feel like I missed having my tea.
For the dinner, I ate about 5 oz. of shredded chicken breast that I had cooked in the crock pot, a red pepper with garlic hummus and a pear. Stayed up too late. And before I went to bed, I ended up scarfing down the remnants of the Krispie Treat granola I had left in the cupboard with some almond milk. Before the detox, my regular breakfast was 1/2 cup yogurt, 1 cup fruit and 1/3 cup of the granola on top. That granola is the best...it's so BUTTERY.
Anyway - I was up a couple of pounds in the morning, and not so happy about that. So, I went for a run and felt better. : )
Today, for lunch, I had a saute of mushrooms, julienne zucchini, onions, and one ounce of smoked gouda cheese stirred into the juices of the vegetables. DIVINE. Before doing the detox, I most definitely ate WAY too much dairy in general, and in particular, CHEESE. I love, love, love cheese. Now I just have to learn to savor it in much smaller amounts. So, we'll see if the cheese does any numbers on me here. Oh - I also made a red juice with a beet (including the greens), rhubarb, apples, and red cabbage. It was YUMMY. Also had a black bean/spelt veggie burger with some coarse grain mustard slathered on top. Good lunch. It will stick with me.
For dinner, I'm grilling some salmon. Have not yet figured out sides, but I bought a big mess 'o broccoli today, so that will likely be steamed as an accompaniment....and something else that I'm not yet decided.
My sister forwarded a 100 push up six week training program to me the other day. We're both going to take that one up. I hate pushups. But I really want to like them.
