It's been a very active past few days with tornadoes touching down just miles from where I live. I was actually taking a nap when the first tornado sirens went off on Sunday. My roommate rushed in to wake me up & we could see the funnel (which had not touched down yet) from our balcony. Since we are in a 2nd floor apartment, and we still had time before the tornado actually touched down, we chose to evacuate. Luckily the storm passed our residence before touching down and we had no damage at all.
Yesterday, I was heading out for a run when it began to hail, so I turned on the news to see what was going on & saw the doppler images and the meteorologists describing the formation and identifying the hook of the storm where there would likely be rotation and a funnel. A little later the watches became warnings and the warnings became more serious with people in the path of the storm being warned to take shelter underground as the storm would be very violent and destructive.
I could not imagine the destruction that the news cameras have captured thus far.
