On the road again is playing in my head as I begin the blog entry memorializing my third return to SparkPeople. Listening to SparkPeople radio and the inspirational stories and great ideas for exercising without thinking of it as exercise. I told my husband this morning that the key to any weight loss program is consistency and follow-through. One of the main issues we have with any project is follow-through to completion. We get it almost done, then off to another project. Habits of a lifetime are hard to change.
But there is some motivation considering I turned 50 last year and I am putting on that 10 pounds going into the 6th decade of my life. It seems that when I hit 40, I put on 10 pounds per decade so went up 10 from 40 - 50 and I am starting to go up the 10 pounds to 60. I must do something and though I have been on the SP site for at least 2 years, off and on, and have not stuck with it, I am working harder this time to follow through.
BUT, "What is different this time?" is the question I have to ask myself as I return yet again to SP. That is a question I need to answer because if I cannot answer that question, the result will be no different. I am tired of banging my head against the proverbial weight loss wall.
Anyone out there who did it and knew what was different that ultimately made you follow through? Would love to hear the answer to "What is different this time?"
UPDATE: Wrote this two almost 3 years ago and have retained that extra 10 pounds which means I want to trim down at least 44 pounds now. Love the app on my phone. I can see that 2000+ calories a day I am putting into my body. Makes for a more conscious eating plan. Also love the goal board being on the home page. Having those goals and motivations flashing by is helpful. Here's to another fresh start, hopefully the one that sticks.
