Thought and Prayer for Tuesday, May 21, 2013

Tuesday, May 21, 2013

If we are honest with ourselves, we would say we don’t always do what we should be doing. Sometimes we do what we think is important but we soon find out that something else was overlooked. Other times we do what others think is important but that isn’t always the right thing either. What we should do is what is important to God right now. When we have the right relationship with Him, He will let us know what we should do at all times. Doing as He tells us to do will keep us away from living for the things of the world and trying to please others.

Acts 14:15b “We have come to bring you the Good News that you should turn from these worthless things and turn to the living God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and everything in them.” (NLT)

Dear Lord, we know we sometimes get drawn into the things of the world and we get distracted from You. We know we sometimes get involved with someone who wants so much from us that we spend less time with You. Help us today to put You back into our lives so we know what we should do rather than what we feel like doing or what others want us to do. We know when we obey You, that all other things will be taken care of and we can be the example You want us to be. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

What we should do is what is important to God right now.

We all have things to do but doing what God wants us to do should be number one on our list.

What is important right now is that we be sure we have had a conversation with God today, read His word and did His will.

When we stop doing what others want us to do and giving into the desires of the world, we can better hear God when He speaks to us.

Staying too busy in doing the things of the world will keep us from doing God’s will.

What should you be doing right now to better serve God and help others?

2 Kings 17:37 “Be careful at all times to obey the decrees, regulations, instructions, and commands that he wrote for you. You must not worship other gods.” (NLT)
