Look at me, gettin' fit at the gym...

Monday, May 20, 2013

I never thought I would ever like going to the gym or working out, sweating, all that stuff, guess I was wrong.

My friend Carmen talked me into joining, I was pretty doubtful about it but I figured I could give it a try, get to hang out with my friend at least. It was rough at first, we met with our trainer Daphne, a funny young lady who is just seems to enjoy inflicting torture for our own good, she set us up with a program and away we went.

First day, SQUATS, what, I could hardly walk for four days, my legs were like rubber and every step was agonizing, what other hell could be in store for us! But luckily for me, that was the worst part and once I got in the routine I started really enjoying the gym.

That was a couple of months ago and I've hardly missed a day since!

Thanks for all the support! I feel so empowered at the gym, yes stylishly limping, wearing sweat, it all feels good. emoticon

You have done amazing Shirley (as I knew you would) I wish I was more like you but sometimes my insecurities hold me back but I am trying harder now - I still have some obstacles but I feel more committed than I did at first and some exercise is still better than no exercise - thanks for taking this little journey with me!

Way to go! The moment that working out becomes enjoyable instead of a chore is the moment you know you've changed your life forever. Keep going and don't look back! I heard someone say: I'd rather be covered in sweat at the gym than covered in clothes at the beach! So true!
