hi everybody--hope you are having a good week. heartfelt prayers to those who are dealing with the tornadoes. I hope we have seen the last of them.
today I got out early since it was going to be HOT (high 80s) today. I was determined to run for six miles and I DID IT!!!! I did not go my fastest--between the heat and the extra distance I tried to keep it mellow--but averaged just a little over 12 min on each mile. and I don't know how it is possible for a person who looks like a hobbit with 25 pounds to loose to feel like a 6'2" amazon gliding through the forest, but for a few minutes today I did. thanks, guided meditation!!!!I bought some new running shorts and a shirt--they will not be flattering on me--but they will be cool and comfortable and help me along as I increase my distance. I am a runner through and through--and the day will come when I look the part--just have to be focused and consistent. the first big step was buying the clothes--next big step will be wearing them in public when I run and being okay with that. in a certain respect I figure that the only people that have a right to criticize how I look would have to be people who could stay with me the whole distance--so that narrows the field a bit.
also got my hat for participating in jenny hadfield's boston peace virtual marathon--so I even have some running swag to wear!
after my run, took a quick shower, headed off to dewayne and cindy's to visit and dig two big tubsful of plants, then stopped for a quick lunch, bought some dirt, checked the local goodwill for mosaic materials, got groceries, headed home, put groceries away, moved sprinklers, watered the cold frames and the newly potted plants, changed the baby chick's litter, filled and planted three deck boxes, printed up several more pages of labels for the daylilies in the field, made dinner and checked the remaining plants in my plant room. suffice it to say I am BEAT. but its a good tired--I love feeling this way at this time of year. I am out in the sun and moving all day long. I am really sore and tired by the end of the day, but I know I have accomplished a lot.
the wren is singing to his lady friend just outside my window--he has chosen the lovely wren house my late friend Harold made me for Christmas before he died. I hope she decides on this house so we can watch them raise their family right outside the window. and we have a turtle who laid eggs in our pasture, so we have put a protective basket over the nest to keep predators away and hopefully we will have baby turtles later on this summer.
fringe tree is blooming, and the iris are just on the verge of starting. have a lovely day, everyone!
