Its been a month that I've been using sparkspeople.com to help me reach my weight management goals, and these last couple weeks is where I've seen most of a difference. Some people would tell me that I look fine, and that I don't need to lose any weight, but those people are usually a part of my family, and most of them being 200 lbs plus. Growing up in a heavy set family, and being the slimmest has always masked my perception of myself. I never really paid any attention to it, but in going from size 11 jeans, to size 15 in two years its about time I start.
I've always wanted to wear a pair of shorts without my thighs rubbing together, or a pair of bikini bottoms without my lower stomach folding over the front when I sit down, and to fit a spandex dress without my hips making it look unflattering. These are things that have always bothered me. It got to the point where I just stopped caring about it, and started wearing really loose fitting clothes so I could ignore that I didn't have a bikini bod, but that's when the weight gain started to get out of control.
Fact is I'm 185 lbs, and I look like I'm 150. My mom jokes, and says its all muscle, but I know its just layers of fat so tightly wrapped to my body that it looks like loose muscle. Probably because I gained the weight extremely slow over the years. My biggest worry is that when I finally do lose these thighs and hips that there'll be all that loose skin without any elasticity in it. I even went out and bought prenatal creams, and skin lotions for during pregnancy in hopes that they would help to tighten my skin, and diminish the stretch marks I got from weight gain, and growth spurts.
At the beginning of this year I started with mostly strength training. I didn't do any cardio, and the weight gaining stopped, but all I did for the next few months was maintain it. This last month I've been doing a sort of strength training that gets harder and harder so I could actually do a full 45 min of cardio without feeling weak. Now I'm doing 45 min of cardio, and 45 min of strength a day, and I'm finally starting to shed the lbs. I've lost lots of inches, and that is mostly what I want to see, but I know I could get down to 135 before looking anorexic. So here we go with my second 30 day challenge. Its pretty simple. If you look at the picture I even set it for easy, medium, and hard. My challenge will be hard. You'll have to paste it to your desktop, and zoom in to get a better view. With this and the dieting guidelines set for me by sparks I'll be back a month from now to share the results! Cheers everyone, and Good Luck! :)
