Interesting unintentional exercise activity yesterday - wound up as part of an impromptu cattle round-up.
Neighbor brought home a new cow...no one thought to lock the gate...
WaLa - cow in the canal!
And he was happy to be there snug in the shade under the street overpass in that cool, running water.
Most of the exercise occurred before the police, firemen and SRP arrived on the scene trying to encourage the cow down the canal WITHOUT falling in ourselves. Some serious balancing, weird stretching and holding on happening there, let me tell you!
One the official guys parked all their vehicles, it was decided the firemen would encourage the cow out from under the street overpass by spraying it with the water hose. . .cow was LOVIN that - kept coming back for more without actually coming out.
Finally, a fireman tied off and entered the canal with a long rake-like tool and herded the cow out from under where we were able to lasso it. . .after a fashion.
Once the cow was 'out from under', it should have been a fairly simple task to lasso it but not the case - even when it was standing completely still! After LOTS of attempts, got two ropes on the cow and started guiding it downstream to a ramp - a very long walk with a less-than-submissive animal to control.
Last, but not least, the tug-of-war as the cow Did Not want to leave the canal. . .nor get into the trailer for transport home.
Not sure how to quantify THAT in my Tracker!
