I'm in the process of moving, so my current apartment is a disaster. Further, I'm trying to hold off on washing clothes until I move into the new apartment with a washer/dryer in unit (I've been using the complex laudrymat). So on Saturday, I was faced with a problem: no jeans to wear. I couldn't wear capris because Portland, being what it is, decided to be a blistering 50-something degrees (I know, I shouldn't whine, it's not snow). I tried on some size 14 corduroys, but I wasn't fond of the cut.
The only other jeans I had to wear were some size 12 Old Navy Sweethearts my sister gave me. I really didn't think I'd fit into them - they were size 12 after all, and I don't think I've been that size since *I* was 12. But I was desperate and trying to avoid spending more money on washing, so I tried them on.
WOW! Just...WOW! They fit! And they weren't even all that tight around the waist! OK, so the cut isn't my favorite (I wish there was more of a flare - I love me some flared legged pants), but overall I was really happy with how I looked. And I was happy that I could actually FIT into them.
Now, I realize that Old Navy Jeans tend to run large (at least in my experience). But still, for me, this is huge. It's one more mini-goal I've reached, one more confirmation that I am improving, that I am getting somewhere.
It's so encouraging to go through your closets and find that half the clothes are too big for you.
It's amazing to get rid of the big, flowy shirts you wore in an attempt to hide the muffin top.
(OK, so these jeans still sorta give me a muffin top - but hey, it's not that bad, and I'm desperate for jeans!)
It's just so great to say goodbye to the fat clothes and embrace size 12 jeans :)
