My husband and I did some real planning over the weekend. (This happens often, but this time, we put it into motion.) We decided that today we were beginning our healthy lifestyle journey. We love to walk and bike and we own a Bowflex, so the exercise is easy, assuming it doesn't rain.
The real problem is food. My husband is a BIG snacker. But he doesn't snack on your typical snack food. His snacks are leftovers from dinner -- sometimes right after dinner! I am a big fan of eating out (not that I hate cooking; it's actually because I hate cleaning). Combined, we are somewhere in the vicinity of 175 pounds overweight. Eek! And with a toddler to chase, we find ourselves winded and embarrassed by our inability to keep up.
Yesterday we weighed ourselves. Both of us weighed less than we guessed (him by 8 pounds, me by 2 -- haha!). Both of us decided to work at our eating problems. We will be using Spark to track our food and exercise; we will follow the calorie guidelines to lose 1-2 pounds per week (1 for me, 2 for him -- this actually puts us around the same calorie range, which helps us with meal planning). And both of us will succeed. For our health, for our son, for ourselves.
