A "No - Spark" Day

Monday, May 20, 2013

Yesterday was BUSY - even by the standards of some of you out there in Sparkland. I am a church music director and yesterday was our Sunday School closing celebration service. Not much to do there, just the usual stuff because each group used a CD to sing along with. But we had to move all of our equipment and mics and stands so that the front of the church was clean. This was a good thing, as the rest of the day was all downhill from there!
Also yesterday was our annual student recital sponsored by the music store where I work. It is our 50th year anniversary, so there were 3 recitals back-to-back. Got done at 1:00 at the church then had to be at the first recital at 1:30 to help set up. already know what comes next - starving (breakfast at 8), no time, no plan, no Spark! McD's drive thru, eat in car, you know the drill. I did move amps, stands, and mics (again-different location) so strength-training done! Also, did give my back/leg (sciatica) a nice rest while watching all 3 recitals! (My kids did great, by the way.) Helped set out the cookies and punch for the 3 receptions after each program. However, due to McD's (see above), did not eat cookies, which for me was HUGE!! still felt full from McD's. Finally, at 8:20PM all done, cleaned up, packed away, etc. got a call from son, "Ice cream supper at Hoover's, my treat." know what I did. But had a medium twist and enjoyed every bite! Got home and had a yogurt and was comfortable. Even though it was a non-Sparkish day, was only a little over range, a little less exercise, a LOT over sodium and fat but that is also over. A new Spark-ly day is here, the sciatica pain is WAY less today, and I have already done back workout, strength-training (sorry - no amps, mics, or stands today!), and cleaning. So treated self to some cut lilacs (smell=wonderful!) and tea on porch. All is still good and today is going to be a better day! emoticon

Amen sister you are so right. I am morbidly obese too, and I'm with you on all the things I can't do, but I just saw my doctor today, who is sending me swimming. So off I went today looking at online - gulp - size 4x bathing suits and hope they fit!

Unlike you I am just starting this journey. I had a long chat with my physician about "diets", and got some good sound advice that I am going to take her up on.

It gives me hope.
I love this blog - it is filled with hope!

Anything that reduces the pain is good in my back and leg! You worked to be healthy and that is great.
