I don't know what a blog is. don't know, don't care. i look at this as my accountability journal. i've been on weight watchers for 16 months now. I started at 289 lbs. I got that way after losing my job of 12 years and not being able to get even 1 interview or call back from all the applications I sent out. I lived in Dayton Ohio which is a dying city after it's General Motors plants shut their doors.
So what's unemployment. A lot of doing nothing because there's no money coming in and what you do get you don't want to waste. My wife and daughter were supportive and encouraging about my abilities to get a job but you can't work if you can't get an interview. So I started to eat. and eat. and eat. Pretty soon it's christmas time. I've been out of work since June, still no job and now i'm 30 lbs heavier. sweet.
So I joined weight watchers for men online. I'd done it before and lost weight so I knew I could do it. No funky foods, no not eating carbs, no restrictions other than portion sizes and accountability. I could have a frosty, or cake, or fries, I just had to account for it.
In March I got a job thru a temp agency at a honda plant 80 miles away on second shift. So i'd leave for work at noon. Get home at 4. stay up to spend time with my daughter before school, go to bed at 8 a.m. and get up at 11 and start it all over again 6 days a week. needless to say no time for exercise. though the job is sanding cars (imagine daniel from karate kid waxing on and off for 8-9 hours). I usually log it as washing a car for 8 hours.
In May we wound up moving to Columbus which got me a half hour closer. So now i'm still on the same schedule except I sleep from 3:30-7:30. but my daughters in half day kindergarten so I only have 2 hours to myself and that's usually used up doing chores and catching up on emails or the dvr. again no exercise time.
so now i'm 75 lbs lighter, which is great, but since i haven't exercised any, i look like garbage. not whining just stating facts.
now the plus side. summer is almost here and school is just about over which means i will drag my daughter kicking and screaming with my while I start getting some exercise in. I hope to make it fun for her. walking, hiking, running around in the yard, swimming, whatever as long as there's movement involved.
So that's what this is. my accountability journal. What did I do today to be active.
today so far I got in a 31 minute 2 1/2 mile walk/run, 120 squats of my 30 squat challenge, some planks, and the fitbit tells me i've climbed 8 sets of stairs. see if i can keep it up.
