Huge storm!

Monday, May 20, 2013

For the last three days the weather people have been predicting storms and more storms. The big one happened last night! The sirens were going off for a long time. We lost power for long enough that the clock on the stove turned off. Neither DH or I know how long it was off because we just went to bed. I did see some smaller branches down in the yard (happens with every wind) but did not have a chance to check everything. That is on my agenda for tonight: pick up all the sticks/branches.

I was a bit worried about the car. Since we rearranged the garage to get the cycle out, the mini-van did not fit. The weather people were predicting hail in a big way, but when I walked past the car on the way to the bus this morning, I did not see any damage. I am assuming that the predicted hail did not arrive. Yea!!!

It was funny. On Thursday night all the neighbors (DH included) were mowing because it was supposed to rain Friday. It finally rained on Saturday night/Sunday morning. It did that only because we watered all our transplants.

DH suggested going for a walk Sunday pm, something we usually enjoy. But because of the forecasts that it was going to pour, with hail, we did not go. The great thing about not going is that our tiny little library now has siding and shingles on the roof. We are getting close to having it out front soon! I have a feeling that the only reason it is so far along is that I set the timer and became his siding cutter (he hates using the jig saw). But when the timer rang I was dealing with laundry. I did go back out to help but I would have rather been doing the laundry and knitting. I help him. He helps me. We get things done.

I love the little road side libraries. There is one in Exeter that I have used. What a smart idea.

We are supposed to be in for rain and /or storms from now through Thursday. I love a good thunderstorm.
