I thought it would be easier for me to keep track of workouts if I posted once a week at the end of each training week. I am competing in my 2nd Half Ironman competition at the end of August. The race consists of: 2KM open water swim followed directly by a 90KM bike ride followed directly by a Half Marathon (21.1 KM).
First Week of Training (5 to 6 week Base Stage):
Monday - Strength Training - Core and Weights 1 Hour, followed by 30 min of training swim using legs only, arms only with swim paddles
Tuesday - Shovelled 2 cubic yds of dirt and mulch for my Mom (3hrs heavy lifting)
Wednesday - 40 min bike ride followed directly by 20 minute run
Thursday : 45 minute bike ride
Friday: Strength Training - Core and Weights 1 Hour, followed by 30 min of training swim using legs only, arms only with swim paddles
Saturday: 60 Minute Bike Ride directly followed by 1 KM run
Sunday: 5KM run
So that was my first week of a 6 week base training. The Base Training is the most important phase and you establish a solid foundation to move to the Build Phase.
