Good evening fellow Sparkers! My name is Melanie and I'm 18 years old. I just finished my first year of college, where I'm studying English and Creative Writing. I weigh 152 pounds and my goal weight is between 125 and 130.
I just wanted to write this introduction to start off my first week of my weight loss journey with a goal in mind. Obviously, we all have our long term goals to keep in mind, but I think that it's easier to set smaller goals along the way so the journey doesn't seem quite so long. Think about it: you can't drive across the country without stopping to stretch your legs and grab a bite to eat. In fact, if you don't break up the trip with these little pit stops, it would appear almost impossible to continue on, with some seemingly unattainable goal far out of sight. Taking the time to remind yourself how far you've come so far, and not think so much about how far you have to go will motivate you to continue on.
That being said, my goal for week 1 is to stay completely on plan diet-wise. That means planned snacks, tracking calories or points or however I decide to stay with it, and NO ordering out at work! This has been a huge problem for me diet-wise and financially, so it's become a bad habit that I really need to kick (I work part-time, mostly at night, at a retail store. I can easily bring some kind of pre-portioned meal, but I've become reliant on fast food. Not good).
I'll be exercising throughout the week, but with the start of my summer class (which is Nutrition - that's a good motivator to stay on track!) I've decided to not focus on the exercise until I get used to my new schedule. I'm focusing on diet this week, and hopefully the scale will reflect it. It's hard not to set a number goal, but I'm trying not to define my journey by numbers. We'll see what happens!
Good luck everyone on your mini goals (and long term ones, too!) and we'll meet back here at the end of the week. See ya soon!
