Rainy but Satisfying Marathon

Sunday, May 19, 2013

I'm Still in PA, so I'll write more from the comfort of home.

I finished the Run For The Red Marathon today. It rained the first 24 miles and was pea soup fog for the first six, but it was a good race. I think I'll do it again next year and see if I can do better.

During the race, I had a conversation with a woman running her 82nd marathon. She's run one in every state at least once.

When I told her this was my first, she said that If I could run this one, I could run any one because even though this race is fast, it is extremely difficult. I hope she was right. -Found her on FaceBook and sent a friend request. We'll see.

Here are my race stats:

Vincent Colombo, 60, Deposit, NY
Bib# 113
Place 508/602
Age Group place 14/36
Half Marathon Split 2:09:15
Gun Time 4:44:06
Chip Time 4:43:37
Average Pace 10:49

Good on you brother! Finishing and not being last are 2 very good objectives for your first marathon!

Bet the fog helped to keep things a little more cool & comfortable...at least as comfortable as one can be running a MARATHON! Woo hoo to YOU!

I'm amazed what a great time you ran at your very first marathon!
Also, you second half was hardly slower at all than the first half,
which shows you were in a very good shape and conserved your strength for the end of the race.
