Gone too Far???? Bizarre Symptoms

I have been VERY committed to this lifestyle lately. I have increased my workout to 45 minutes 6 days a week and I am maintaining between 1300 and 1600 calories a day. Mainly, I am skipping all white food (rice, pasta, bread, potatoes) and sticking to protein, veggies and fruit. Lots of salad, grilled meat and veggies.

BUT, I am spacing out, forgetting everything, have no focus and cant get ANYTHING done. I find myself being impaitent with my kids and husband etc. Then today, I got up with the worst migraine headache ever. It was after 11 before I could get enough medicine to even lift my head without throwing up. I had a little bit of a residual headache the rest of the day but I ate some sushi and avocado and fruit. I am better but what an awful, crushing pain.

Have I gone too far?

    Kind of funny I went through the same thing a couple if years ago when I went from a beach zone type low carb to Atkinson low carb. Whatever you are doing to lose weight you need to remember it should be sustainable. These symptoms were of withdrawal from carbs and will subdue in time.

You need to make a conscious choice of wether low carb is right for you. Are your tastes more inclined to whats on offer in low carb eating? If so you also need to find your personal carb level. Everyone is different and some people can't lose any weight without severe carb restrictions because of their altered body chemistry.

The best way is to look at the norm, we're expected to eat around 300 grams of carbs a day so rather than doing the Atkins 20grams a day start with a higher number. Usually you only need a little bit less than the norm to get results.

Start with around 150 grams of carbs per day and see how it goes and then reduce by 25 grams at a time to go down if you think it's not working.

I gave up low carb because I was losing weight either way, with and without so lobg as the calories were accurate and inside the range. So as I had/have a sweeth tooth which I think should be indulged I personally didn't see the point anymore to eating low carb.

But it's your choice and there are some advantages in this way of eating.

    LESLEE is right--if you just eat a variety and watch your portions, you don't have to give up certain foods. Try it!!

    Sounds like the carb flu. Just a guess!!! You've reduced your intake of carbs (a good thing) but your brain wants the high carbs give, so your body is paying the price. Normally it only lasts a day or two - but can take up to a week to get over.
