Retail therapy

Saturday, May 18, 2013

My dh took an extra day off this week, so we got to go out to the plant place today and to the grocery store. But before all that, I did 20 minutes of my basic weights (1 lb.) and physical therapy routine.

We are being mindful as to how we are doing our little garden. We spent the little extra and got a patio cucumber (pickling). We are going to get a large pot and put our tomatoes in it so we have a patio tomato as well. We are planting green beans and zucchini in our little square foot garden. Just a little change in how we have done it in the past few years. Oh, and some spanish onions for another little bed. I also pulled some easy weeds -- not much, maybe 5-10 minutes worth.

Then, it was the store hopping, and shopping, getting fresh fruits and veggies, and stuff. Supper - my dh decided to do a shis kabob with green peppers, tomatoes, mushrooms, beef, and zucchini.

Tonight my legs and back hurt, and are achy. So, tomorrow will be an official rest day.

Today, I managed to walk 2.5 miles between the nursery and the other two stores. Whew. No wonder I am tired.

Purple flowers at the nursery - I love seeing all the colors.

I love this intriguing conical shaped hanging planter. I really fell in love with a hanging basket of blue tiny flowers with red petunias. Looked so patriotic. I should have taken its picture.

I accidentally took a picture of my own legs. It could be a more horrible picture. I know that the thighs are thinner than a couple months ago, and I gave them a good workout today, and yesterday.

Have a great rest of the weekend.

Oh that will be so awesome getting all those fresh veggies right from your own garden!!! Way to go with your fitness!
I am finally able to use my right arm fully again and am using light weights with it. I can still feel the elbow in certain movements, but so happy for it being so close to normal as it will ever be.
Here is to enjoying our day of rest tomorrow! After 315 fitness minutes today (my Mom refuses to ask for rides, we will walk & hike until we drop!!) I had already done 105 cardio minutes in the morning before embarking on our four hour journey. I will be lucky to crawl out of bed in the morning, hoping my gabapentin will work this time :PP

Sounds like you had a fun and productive day. The garden sounds nice. I may next week, hoping it won't be to late. But I would like to get in the pot plants a tomato, a cherry tomato and red pepper plant. Next year I think I would like to try a small garden. I have never had one and know nothing about them. Not to sure what to plant and when. When my hubby was a live we had the neatness strawberry garden. It was done up in a huge 3 tier wooden display and the berries were so very good. I made everybody homemade jam and froze bunches of the berries. Oops did not mean to go on and on. Any way glad you had a nice day. Good luck with the garden. emoticon
