Overcast Saturday

Saturday, May 18, 2013

Well, it has been a good day so far. I was able to get out and get my cellphone repaired, get a small amount of groceries, and give my Caddy a minor drive, all at once.

You see, my Caddy is 10 years old (bought her 4 years ago), and she has 163,000 miles on her. I expect her to last to at least 300,000 miles. But with the gas prices what they are, and the fact that this car gets, on a good day, 26 MPG, I needed (aka wanted) to do something about it.

The Caddy also needs its engine overhauled/rebuilt and that will take a bit of time and a delivery to a place in Chicago that will do it right.

Thus the need (want) of another car. So, I bought a 2013 Dodge Dart, manual transmission, Black inside and outside. 36 - 41 mpg. II like it. It reminds me of my 1986 Dodge Colt. Of course the Dart is fancier and a wee bit bigger than the Colt was. My Colt got 235,000 miles on her before we retired her (gave her away).

So, I picked up my new car (the first new one we bought since the 1986 Dodge Colt) last Saturday, and I drove her every day to work. She has one of those touch screen controls. I am starting to get used to that.

However, I am a wee bit displeased with one thing: the traffic news shortcut does NOT list ANY city in Ohio!! Hmmpf!

Oh well, I will rely on the old-fashioned radio station for that news.

Anyway, I am in day 6 of home cooked/prepared foods for all three meals. One thing for sure: I am saving money!!

Congrats on the new car. I had a Dodge Dart years ago but I am sure it was nothing like your new one.

Your Colt and my Honda sound a lot alike and she's still sitting (and going) in the garage at 253,000 miles. It's good to be frugal! As for cooking and eating at home for all 3 meals--you are my idol...I can try to do that but something always crops up. Let us know how it goes, okay? Maybe I'll try it again!
