Basis B1

Saturday, May 18, 2013

Well, got my Basis B1, at a premium, as they are not available from the maker, but I found one on Ebay. Surprisingly, it seems very accurate for a wrist device. Others I have found under count steps. Also the heart rate function works well. So far, so good. I do miss an iPhone app, which the company promises is coming. For now, have to sync with USB cable. The data display on the web page after syncing is impressive, though. Is it worth the money? I'll give it a full week of use before I judge that. Anyone else have one of these? I did set up a Sparkteam for users.

really?? undercount steps you mean?? I am very interested in acquiring one. I have been looking on ebay and amazon, as it is not available directly from the company. I have a bodymedia as well and I do love it for the motivation and accountability factors but it bothers my arm after awhile and as a result I do not wear it as consistently as I would like. I was looking at the fitbit, but I understand that it is just a glorified pedometer and that it over counts steps, which you also mentioned. The Basis B1 looks to have the same features plus some compared to the Bodymedia, since it measures heartrate as well. And I would like to have that to increase burn. So what are your thoughts so far? You've had it a month? What is your preference?

Spoke too soon. The Basis does seem to under count. It is consistently reading only 60-75% of the reading I get on both Fitbit and Bodymedia. Disappointing for such an expensive gadget.
