Sometimes being back in school is majorly fantastic.
Case in point - in less than two weeks I will be off on a 10 day adventure, hiking in Rocky Mountain National Park, Arches, Canyonlands, Bryce, Zion, Grand Canyon, and the Petrified Forest! All with a group of a dozen other grad students, checking out geology and getting some serious walkin' in. If things go the way I hope they do, I am going to be in such good shape by mid-June!
Hiking, camping, cooking over an open fire...y'all, I am already beyond excited for this trip. I don't know what my traveling companions are expecting, but a week spent driving across scenic mountain roads with a good playlist, taking long hikes through beautiful national parks, and then eating meat and veggies cooked over an open fire is pretty much my dream vacation. And I'm volunteering to help plan the menu and shopping list, so there will definitely be some good eats happening.
In the meantime I'm eating paleo (well, mostly...I had a traumatic late night encounter with a wasp IN MY BED last night, and gave in to the urge to eat some junk food that was lying around from Easter), getting 10,000+ steps a day, and hitting the bodyweight strength training routine hard. Gotta be in shape for all that high altitude hiking!
Spark on, friends.
