The specialist I have changed to could see an improvement in my right eye (the one with the wet macular degeneration) in just 2 weeks. She said she would continue the injections at 4-5 week intervals until the retina is flat. What I thought was a dark spot in the middle of my field of vision was probably the blood in the vitreous and it has almost completely dissipated. I am greatly relieved that my eye is showing improvement after only one injection and I am not so scared about having permanent damage to the retina and/or macula.
