It's really true. Who knew? Before I started moving every day and sitting in my recliner because it was easy, it hurt to do just about everything. If I stood too long, my legs started going numb. I didn't need a medical degree to figure out that all the excess weight I was carrying combined with no core strength was putting undue pressure on my discs and pinching nerves.
I started moving slowly. VERY slowly. At first all I could do on the treadmill was about 15 minutes. 5 minutes warm up, 5 minutes at a slightly faster pace, and 5 minutes cool down. I started building up an extra 2 minutes every week and then all of a sudden it jumped to 30 minutes. What???? How did that happen? This morning I did 45 minutes. Now granted, I'm not running - just walking briskly, but this is progress, folks! I am almost 60 years old and I am just thrilled to be feeling so much better, so much healthier and so optimistic.
I look forward to the new activities I'll be adding to my routines. Yes, I'll be sore. Yes, it won't be comfortable at first. Suck it up, Cupcake. I'll get through it and be better for it. Spark on!
