in bloom

Saturday, May 18, 2013

. . . in my garden today

lilacs (a huge hedge of them, proper lavender ones)
japonica (bright coral and pale orange)
crab apple (deep pink)
apple blossom
forget-me-not (in sky-blue drifts)
lily-of-the-valley
violets, deep purple
tulips, many colours
primula

and there are coming attractions, very soon . . .

early iris
allium
chestnut blossom

There were moments like this
Before I was,
Moments like this will be
Long after I am gone

Seeing this,
Seeing this moment now,
I am content
I am.

    Beautiful!

I have magnolias, azaleas, Gerber daisies, hibiscus, oleander, bougainvilla, lantana, day lilies, and many sweet delicate wild flowers (otherwise known as weeds) growing in my yard. Dessert rose will bloom soon. Love them all!!

Enjoy....

Your blog reminds me of my childhood in Connecticut. When the tulips first popped up, I knew winter was truly over. Then came the anticipation of their blooming.

WoW! How wonderful that must be! The trees are just starting to bud out in earnest here now. We figure a week and everything will bloom. Some trees haven't even started yet, notably the thunderchild crabs. We walked through an arboretum today and except for the evergreens, it looked pretty pathetic with few leaves on anything. What this place was for was the University's demonstration of every kind of tree and shrub that would grow in our climate. I never have seen so many species of lilacs, really can't wait until they all start blooming.
You paint a lovely picture with words -I will just have to visualize the sights and smells -hmmm.

"contento" is I believe the Italian and Spanish version of "happy"... and every time I see the word "content", I sigh happily and a part of my core being relaxes... this happened reading your blog today.

Your descriptions send me to a happy place. :)
Apple blossoms have already gently fallen to the ground like snowflakes. the Dogwood is still in bloom. Yellow dandelions create a nice contrast against the green lawns. Blue skies, puffy clouds, fresh gentle breezes... all have renewed me.

What lovely gifts we have been given.
