Today is going to be a good day!

Saturday, May 18, 2013

I met with my GI doctor and my GP doctor yesterday. Thank goodness the latest blood work was good and that means I won't have to have the invasive bone marrow biopsy.
The doctors believe that my RA just got nasty and decided to present itself in my GI track. The medicines they put me on are working and other than a bit tired today I am feeling positive and good(darn dog work me at 4am and couldn't get back to sleep). So it looks like I will have to watch the RA for life and will continue to eat gluten free and dairy free to be nice to my GI track.
Carmen came over to discuss new menu plan and will deliver more yummy meals to me.
Oh and I am also juicing which is helping.
So there you are.....finally a more upbeat blog that I can write.

I can't begin to express to all of you who follow me how much I appreciate your on going thoughts and prayers and well wishes. I will admit that this has been one of the hardest things I have had to go through. There were definitely some dark days there. I have so much more empathy now for people who are so sick they can't live daily life. Good health is such a blessing. I say to all that read this....treat your body like a temple and fuel it with good healthy foods and not crap so you can be in good health.
Cheers
Sallie

You sound so much better, Sallie - I am delighted to see this! So glad you won't need the bone marrow biopsy, too. You have always taken excellent care of your health, but the body has ways we don't yet understand of malfunctioning despite one's very best efforts. Your strength and persistence are such an inspiration to me...and to many of us, I know! May they continue to serve and bolster you as you grapple with the demands of your RA and its GI ramifications.

It sounds to me like you've gotten an extremely thorough, careful medical evaluation and are well along on the road to recovery. So glad juicing is helping you and that Carmen can make any needed modifications in the delicious-sounding food she prepares for you, too.

Sending ongoing healing thoughts and good wishes to one of Spark's finest! All the best - Susan emoticon

How wonderful to hear some positives!!
Yup, one can certainly learn from ill health how to appreciate feeling good! More proof that we learn much from the negatives that fall into and onto our lives!
Keep feeling better and better!!
Surely by now you feel you are standing near that proverbial rainbow of good health and wellness! Yes?

It is good news that you are feeling better. I think you have been so lucky to have such a good support system. I wish I could borrow Carmen for awhile! LOL I am allergic to eggs so I have to be so careful eating out. I get into trouble sometimes even though I ask. I hope you will continue to improve!

It's not often I am thrilled beyond words, but this is one of those time! Hallelujah! I am SOOOOOOOO glad you don't have to have the bone marrow biopsy. My little sister has lymphoma and has had many of them. It is just absolutely not something you want to have done unless it is just totally urgent.

HUGS HUGS HUGS. Prayers answered.

So glad for you, Sallie, that you don't need the biopsy and are feeling better. Also relieved that you seem to be getting a more definitive diagnosis. I think you have handled all this amazingly well. It must have been so difficult, but you have really shown a great deal of strength and courage. Better days ahead! emoticon

So happy that you don't have to go through more invasive testing and that you are feeling so much better. RA is a nasty decease but can be managed with diet and meds.
Here's to feeling better every day!
You are so right! We take our health and bodies for granted, we need to treat our bodies like a well tuned engine - bad fuel will mess it up.
Enjoy all the meals Carmen will be cooking for you!

Oh Sallie, you don't know how very thankful I am to read that your docs feel this is behind you with no more invasive testing! AND that you have a positive plan for going forward!!

I know just what you mean about how precious good health is!! I've never had anything of the serious nature of your illness, but I did go through a 4 year long bout of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (started about 15 years ago). I can remember praying SO often to tell God that I GOT the message and would never take good health for granted again.

And I haven't - I thank God every day for my health!! I'm 65 and feel GREAT!! Yes I have occasional challenges like foot or knee or back issues, but I get through them by being positive and staying active. So YES - good health is the very best gift!!
