a day to get outdoors and enjoy. another warm and sunny day here today. my daughter is looking forward to spending lots of time outdoors today. my birds are enjoying this milder weather, too. got to see the new star trek movie the other day and i really enjoyed it. it was a treat after my first full week of school. i did pretty well, considering i have been away from the classroom for a long time. i'm finding that i do not want to miss a class, unless i am not well. the teachers are all so good and make the subjects so interesting. i also enjoyed the orientation sessions that were held this week at school. i also found out new things about the school that i did not know before. now i want to take part more in activities that are not a part of my day to day school life. the last time i went to college, i did not do much of that. now, i want the full college experience. even the stressful exam times. i will get through school, one class at a time, one day at a time. have a wonderful day, everyone and a fabulous weekend!

I really enjoyed my last two years in university. I was about 15 years older than most of the other students but still fit in wonderfully. When I got my BA I was married (before my daughter was born) but spent all my extra time with my husband and did not participate in the extras and never really got to know my classmates. This time around was so wonderful. It also helped that the Education department went on a different schedule than the rest of the university and had our own library so were pretty isolated. I got to know not only those in my classes but every person I graduated with in the BEd program. It really helped when we needed help on assignments and even keeping in touch during our practicums, we knew we could help each other.

Have fun and enjoy all the other activities you can fit in. I was a returning adult student and even set up programs to assist other returning adults to juggle school and so much other life. I have also taught at the college level (before I started working with kids who have special needs) and found that those who were RETURNING students often surprised themselves by how well they did. They were back after time in the "real world" outside high school and discovered that they WANTED to get an education and learn more to improve their job and life prospects. They often were my star students.
