Moving On

Saturday, May 18, 2013

Yesterday was the short committal service at the cemetery for my dad. It is finally over.

TC and I will be leaving Michigan today. Our first stop is Shenandoah National Park in VA for some hiking. I probably will NOT be Sparking because we don't have electricity at our campground. Doh! No internet for me!!

While I am reluctant to leave my mother, she needs some time to find her new normal. My siblings who live in the state will be visiting on weekends for a while. TC and I will be back in a month or so before we swing back home.

I've been terrible in the last week -- lots of goodies being delivered to the house, lots of toasts to my dad who was the quintessential party animal....but I'm starting today and hopefully tomorrow we'll be able to get a hike or a walk in!

I hope everything is going well with all of you and I'll check in later when I can. Thank you for all the thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

You take good care of yourself and TC! You've been through a lot and you need time to heal as well.

Be good and be safe!

Hiking always helps me to regain perspective, de-stress, and re-center.
Hope you can gain some distance.
Wishing you well.

It's hard to lose a parent, even if it's a relief that they aren't suffering any longer. I'm glad you get to have some time to adjust to "YOUR" new normal in a beautiful environment. Be gentle with yourself, and let TC pamper you a bit.

When do you get to see that new grandbaby again?

emoticon Just now catching up with you and I'm so happy you are able to see the blessing in your Dad's last weeks. I know there will be some difficult times coming in the weeks ahead but I'm SO glad you will be spending time outdoors hiking - its the best thing we can do for our souls (IMO). When I lost my parents one of the difficult side effects of grieving was not sleeping well in the following weeks. Hopefully the hiking and being out in nature will help with that - there's nothing like it for relieving stress!! Hugs!!

I am sure that the hiking will give you time to think and come to terms with your loss. It is not easy losing someone you love so much. If you can get to a phone at all on your trip please call some of your family to see how your mom is adapting and coping before you get back.
I know God can heal your heartache and wipe away all your tears. Celebrate who you are and I hope the journey to better health gets stated for you quickly. I am so glad it will be just you, TC and God for the next few weeks. emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon emoticon

What a wonderful environment to diffuse, refocus and reconnect; all the serenity and beauty of a National Park. You have navigated many peaks and valleys these last few weeks. It is a good time to be disconnected from the internet and other technology. We know you are in good hands.
