Ruled by Food??

Friday, May 17, 2013

I used to have a streak going on blogging. I broke it, and it has been difficult to get back on doing it daily again. I know it is a key to my accountability on my daily goals & maybe that is why there is not to many goals met. Part of it is I have been ready to just relax in the evening after a long 12 hour day of daycare, that I just haven't been ready to sit down and blog.

One good thing is I am back on the daily Made to Crave. It has been good. Today really was encouraging. I was ready to eat stuff that I shouldn't for afternoon snack, instead I sat down and read a Ch 6. This quote really hit home....

"if we find that certain foods are impossible to walk away from -- we can't or won't deny ourselves an unhealthy choice in order to make a healthier choice -- then it's a clue that we are being ruled by this food on some level."

I don't want to be ruled by food and cravings. I sometimes think I deserve or really want something, it won't hurt just one time. But until I break through this plateau I must be more careful. My weakest time is in the afternoon. Therefore, I am planning on reading Made to Crave then.

I finished the two baby blankets this week...will post pictures later.

I too read Made to Crave (both the book and the devotional). I always felt there was something missing when it came to willpower and how it works. Made to Crave was the missing link!

So easy to rationalize our indulgent food choices ... What I'm realizing is that my choices PROVE what I really want ... And lately it seems I want immediate satisfaction more than I want to lose these extra 4 pounds. If I REALLY want to lose them, I will make the choices needed. and I need to be honest with myself and my Spark friends about that! May God give us clarity to see what foods are controlling us, and make us willing and able to deny ourselves and give control back to Him alone!

I appreciate you honesty! Staying away from certain foods is a weakness of mine as well! Hang in there, Carrie! emoticon

Congratulations on meeting so many of your goals. Can't wait to see the pictures of the quilts. My mom quilted, but I never learned how. Keep up the great work and thanks for the great blog. Sending hugs your way!

It's that attitude, "it won't hurt just this one time" that gets me in trouble. Because I repeat it the next day. And the next. And the next. Sometimes I think if I just don't think of my eating as being on a diet (i.e., being restricted), I would choose healthy options. At least I'd like to think that. I am a work in progress!

It can be difficult after a long day at work to keep focussed. I'm constantly reassessing what I need to do for the best.
Well done for meeting so many of your goals.

You met a lot of goals! Can't wait to see the blankets. That book sounds like something I ought to read. The quote makes me want to write a list of all foods I need to conquer that I am ruled by.
