More time in the hospital, other problems.

Friday, May 17, 2013

I woke up after a nap at 3:30 today, and when I went to the bathroom, the doctors think I passed a kidney stone. Lots of blood, so I went to the E.R. They checked my kidneys, did a CT scan, and checked my Coumadin levels. All fine. They think the problem is over.

I spent my last $800 fixing the brakes on my brother's car, which I paid $600 for 6 months ago. Now I have replaced the rotors, calipers, and pads, but the car still sounds like the brakes are rubbing. I am broke, and hope the problem is an issue that can be resolved for free. Meanwhile my brother is driving the next 3 days on it. If they try to charge us, my brother may have to take them to court. It is the exact same noise that it was making before they fixed it, just worse.

So my plans for the day are reading, eating supper, and then getting some sleep. Hopefully next week is a little better.

Sorry about the car trouble and glad you are better. I don't know much about cars but have found that auto mechanics that work for themselves with no employees and little overhead in small towns often are the best deal. Ours can be trusted 100% to not sell us stuff we don't need.
Hope you can get the problem fixed.

Wow, not a good thing with the car. Did you go to S&K Muffler? They've always been pretty good for me (as far as I know, not knowing anything about cars!)

My ex used to have the exact problem with his car always sounded the same or worse after it was "fixed". Although in his case it was because he would not let the mechanics actually do their complete job...he would go in and say the water pump is broken, replace it...and the real problem would eventually turn out not to be the water pump but something different. But he would never let the shop do the diagnostic to figure out the problem first. We wasted so much money because he thought he knew more about cars than he actually did.

Me...I have no problem admitting my ignorance! At least until someone tries to take advantage and sell me some expensive song and dance repair that I don't need. Like at Midas...never go there.

I'm glad it was probably a kidney stone and nothing more serious!

Phew! You've been having a bad run of luck! Wish we lived closer, I'd just send my DH over to look at the car. Hope things start looking up!

Hey, what ever happened to your wager with your brother? How's he been doing?
