Phew, we're back up and running this morning! I have to say, the site being down for so long yesterday was worrisome! I had tracked most of my food while at work, so I knew where I was for my calorie ranges. But then I only had a half hour for dinner [I had a fundraiser *for* work to go to in the evening] and ended up eating crap, because it was quick and easy, and was sure I'd gone way over my goals. It turns out, when I tracked it this morning... I was still within my calorie ranges [on the lower end, too!] and although I went over my fat and under my carbs, I actually hit my protein goal which I always struggle with. Huh.
Today is an exciting day, because I received my first paycheck! It's not much, and I can't even put much of that into savings because I have to pay my mom back for covering my bank account last month [I overdrafted by three dollars and that caused $50 in fees because I didn't take care of it soon enough!], but it's a start.
This also means that I can finally apply for financial assistance for the YMCA-- again. I applied last year [around the same time of the year, actually] but since I had no proof of income [or lack of income], they couldn't give me much assistance. How silly is that? But now that I have pay stubs to prove that I don't make much at all, they can give me assistance. Ha! Anyway, I'm excited to join the Y, for many reasons:
-it's much closer than my current gym. Actually, it's only a half mile from the library [and right across the street from that city's library, actually] and I walk over there all the time as it is. A closer location means I'll actually go, even during the winter when I can't bike. And it means that I might be successful in convincing some of my coworkers to join [they're thinking about it].
-they have a POOL! I was considering just getting an inflatable pool for my yard this summer [I had one in Chicago, they're not good for doing laps or anything but they're a nice way to cool off], just to have something to jump into when the summer gets too hot. But having a big pool that I can actually exercise in is way better!
-they have tons of classes, like water aerobics and kickboxing. They even have a running club!
-they have a rock climbing wall!
-Basically, they have a whole lot more than my current gym does. Don't get me wrong, I've been grateful to Planet Fitness for offering a basic gym at a very low price but it is that: a BASIC gym.
-they pretty much offer everything that my gym in Chicago did, which I LOVED, except they're not open 24 hours a day.
-I could even take swimming lessons or get a personal trainer if I ever want to [can afford to] spend the extra money.
So, yeah. I'm excited to join the Y and say goodbye to Planet Fitness. I should be a member in just a few weeks! Amazing, the things you can do when you actually have a steady income!
