Meeting Shannon

Iíve been fortunate enough to meet a lot of the SparkCelebs in person--you know, SparkGuy, Coach Nicole, etc. And it was exciting, trust me. I tried to play it a little cool, not to freak out too much, so they wouldnít have to get a SparkStalker restraining order or anything. :) Theyíve all been really great people, a very down-to-earth bunch.

But you know whatís absolutely, positively just as exciting? Meeting a SparkBuddy in person! And I donít have to play it cool! Iíve only had the opportunity to meet one other buddy in person, Ďtil now. Yesterday, my buddy and leader of the Hula Hoop All Stars team, Shannon (DAMIERE) was passing through my town on her way to a hoop festival. She lives about two hours away. We keep saying weíre going to get together and hoop someday. Well, yesterday was that day! She stopped in for a visit. Even better, it was right after I picked up the girls from school, so Audrey and Emily were able to hang out as well. Audrey is hero-worshipping Shannon now. I think she wants the green hair (me too!). Lol.

We had such a fun time! You know how you can meet someone for the first time and itís like youíre already old friends? So far, Iím two for two with that, as far as SparkBuddies go. I think itís because we share so much of this journey together online, we already have a history by the time we meet. Anyway, we hooped and Shannon showed us some cool toys sheís learning. Audrey wants a contact staff now... Shannon got to meet Chubbs and Pudding (bonus) and Randy and Logan. It was just a really fun afternoon. How cool is it that you can meet a buddy and play, play, play?

I know SparkBuddies that meet and do 5Ks together. I have a friend whoís planning a vacation with buddies sheís never met before. It must sound crazy to people who arenít drinking the SparkKoolaid. Ha ha. But what a cool and interesting community that can be supportive enough to build relationships that can periodically cross over from online to in-person. Like Iíve said, it takes a SparkVillage. Iím curious, how many of you have had the opportunity to meet SparkBuddies in person?
