National Ride Your Bike To Work Day!

Friday, May 17, 2013

How is a body with bicycle wheels thrumming through his soul NOT going to ride his bike to work on National Ride Your Bike To Work Day? Which ALSO happens to be the last day of National Ride Your Bike To Work Week? Which ALSO falls within May, which is National Bike Month?!

Such a glorious & wonderful ride it was too! I quickly blew past the pre-ride jitters of preparation and mental checklist, remembering to take everything I needed for the long day ahead, including the tissues in both pockets to deal with the sweet, welcome mess of watery eyes and runny nose that I know the chilly mid-40's morning air will bring on... :-)

Breathing deeply and savoring the morning sun, blue skies while riding through Otsiningo Park and past the geese lazing in the tall grass beside the Chenango River in Cheri Lindsay Park. Greeting walkers with a cheery "Good Morning" instead of the rote harumphh of "on your left"...just filled with good will toward the whole planet!

For my first ride it will be a bit of a challenge getting home tonight as I see a couple of clients after work and won't hit the road until 7:30 pm, but there will still be light and I have my bright red t-shirt & trusty Light & Motion vis 360 atop my helmet:

Have a GREAT day everyone and if you can, get on your bikes, ride safe and follow Joseph Heller's advice: "When I grow up I want to be a little boy!"

I wish I could ride to work, unfortunately I can't.... Company safety regs disallow bikes on the property :( (its a BIG place)

I love that...when I grow up, I want to be a kid... So true. We lose our joy and enthusiasm for life when the problems and responsibilities mount.

Keep pedaling :)

Super. I'm glad you're comfortable riding again.
For me - ain't gonna happen as I use my car for work - over 60 miles today.
