a small but important NSV

We are having a going away lunch today for one of my co-workers. Pizza and only pizza is on the menu. No salad, no nuthin' but pizza and pop (soda)

Oh yeah, I'm trying hard not to drink pop (or soda) and I'm on Day 13 of that.

I work at a hospital so I just went to the Gift Shop to buy some iced tea. Our Gift Shop carries candy. Lots of candy. Including those Lindt truffles that are wrapped up in pretty foil. I like the milk chocolate ones. A lot. Usually if I go to the Gift Shop, I pick up two or three. Three is a serving size, and also 210 calories (or thereabouts).

Some days I can afford a couple. Today, what with the pizza, I can't.

As an aside, last night I bought Chipotle for dinner because it was so late when i was heading home, and scarfed an entire chicken burrito bowl. So I'm feeling bloated and tired today.

Today, I didn't even look at the bowl full of Lindt milk chocolate truffles. I'm pretty proud of myself.

    Funny how "treats" become something we get used to having every day, or almost every day. Good for you for resisting the Lindt chocolate! Maybe you can decide to have those once or twice a month as a real treat. Or maybe when you go for a while without them you won't miss them as much. Good luck! It's tough - I sympathize - chocolate is a trigger for me!

    Anytime you can pass by a typical treat is a step in the right direction! Have one piece of pizza, eat it slowly and really enjoy it.

Next time they have pizza, you could still bring a nice tossed salad and a piece of fruit to go with it--get that fiber in.

    As long as you stick to one, two pieces tops of pizza and eat a salad or something light for supper you'll be okay.
