I did it! I finally did it! I maxed out the tension on the recumbent last night! The legs were feeling a little tired from the walk the other day, so I decided to lower my target heart rate a little to ease the tension and pretty much kept it at the target for the 60 minutes. Then the last 30 seconds I went all out and maxed the tension at level 25. I was able to keep the RPM up around 95 for the whole 30 seconds.
In a rather pleasant surprise, I am not sore today from my ab work last night. I have started easing in to doing core work instead of just the cardio. And I do mean easing in to it. I hate when my abs are sore from a workout. You never realize how just breathing works the abs till you do a killer set of crunches. So, rather than kill them and have them hurting, I figure I will ease into it and hopefully avoid the pain. Not sure that is possible. Then last night I worked them. And I got home from the gym and about an hour later they were telling me I goofed up and they were not happy. So, I figured today would be a day of misery. So far though, so good. I can tell I worked them last night but no major soreness. I am not holding my breath though, I fear it is coming. I will warn you, I will whine incessantly if they start hurting. I will be like the little baby with a tooth coming in. I will not hesitate to let the world know it hurts.
Ugh, been trading emails with a friend yesterday and today. This friend is going to Florida in a month to stay at his in-laws house in Sarasota. He is graciously allowing me and my son to come down for approximately 6 days in the middle of his 2 week family vacation to do some diving with him and his son. So we have been starting to plan it all. Now all I can think about is scuba diving in the Gulf and enjoying some time with my boy. We are doing a couple tune up dives a week from Saturday at a local quarry that will be cold and murky and will offer about 10 feet of visibility if we are lucky. It will make us appreciate the Gulf of Mexico that much more. We will be able to actually see our dive buddy and hopefully some fish. Me and the boy are also bringing our bikes. He will need to run also for conditioning for cross country. I am just looking so forward to vacation. It will be a good time with good friends for almost a week.
Pretty weak effort turned in today by me on this page. Hopefully tomorrow is better.
