Have You Never Been Mellow?

Thursday, May 16, 2013

I wrote a blog post to the point of running spell check and my laptop which had been running updates in the background froze with a resource what happens? The page reloads but not at the point I was at....I just could not face rewriting

Part of the blog yesterday was feeling pretty good about the progress my knee was making. I actually didn't have to take anti inflammatory medicine......before my walk. LOL
My walk was done without a knee brace or patellar tendonitis band. Gutsy? Wise? Well..............

I did just fine with the walk, stretched mid walk and did a super stretching session post walk. Had a seriously sore (in a good way) foam roller session.

And then............I started to hurt.

Oh, and I also had done some plyometric squat jumps. ROFL....when I get dumb, I really do it good! LOL

That's what I was thinking last night anyway.

This morning, I am feeling great again so got away with it! But I have been thinking about the lyrics from that old Olivia Newton John song.......

There was a time when I was in a hurry as you are
I was like you ( In a hurry to get be running much so that I push too hard, too fast, too aggressively)

Now I don't mean to make you frown
No, I just want you to slow down (DUH.....Listen to this)

Have you never been mellow?
Have you never tried to find a comfort from inside you? (You grateful for where you are at the moment? Enjoy it for what it is?)

Have you never been happy just to hear your song?
Have you never let someone else be strong? ( this is where my sparkfriends come in....they give me strength)

Running around as you do with your head up in the clouds
I was like you
Never had time to lay back, kick your shoes off, close your eyes
I was like you
Now you're not hard to understand
You need someone to take your hand ( Oh Boy....this is right on the nose)

Have you never been mellow?
Have you never tried to find a comfort from inside you?
Have you never been happy just to hear your song?
Have you never let someone else be strong?

I am trying to be mellow.....I am aware of the comfort inside...I just need to tap into it....and today.................I'm going to concentrate on hearing my song. Thanks to my strong friends.....maybe I'll just do it! emoticon emoticon

I love the logical way this all comes together. We all need to take heed, I say!

And now....once've put a song in my head!

Wow, being mellow... YOU?!, Well you do need to practice what you remind us me dear friend. Treat your body good and it will be good to you. Half of what you did would probably have been enough, building slowly.... I know you have places to go, things to do-but be good to YOU! Be mellow.
Meanwhile I'm feeling groovy...another old song to meditate on.
I'm loving the oldies my friend-the songs and those of us that remember them..

I love this song and how you found your need to mellow. Your first priority should be to let that knee heal (of course you already know that) and make out a plan of attack when you can walk/run again and be pain free. As Sparkers we gear ourselves to go that extra mile to succeed, but we need to learn how to listen to our bodies and sometimes just slow down and take time to smell the roses, so to speak. Take care. emoticon

I read the title, then pictured you sitting at the puter just being mellow, it just didn't quite fit. I know you aren't used to sitting back and taking it easy. But you need to let that knee heal. Ok, I've been bossy enough, now have a wonderful day my friend.

Glad you are finding your "mellowness!" We always say "Be good to yourself." That's it, put another way.

Glad your knee is better. I know from my own experience that it takes a lot longer than we think it should!

it's really difficult NOT to push yourself, when pushing yourself is your natural inclination.

I have several Spark Friends who are distance runners & currently dealing with injuries. Doing a 1/2 marathon means you push yourself. Tougn to not do that all of a sudden, for an extended period of time.

So instead of JUST DO IT - for once...JUST DON'T emoticon

How true is this?? I too could learn a thing or two from this song. Or should I say my song?

Thanks for being one of my strong friends!

Great song!! (now that's an oldie emoticon ) but it does have a lot of great meaning for us Sparksters!! We are always so geared toward moving, pushing, going that extra step that we really have to stop and think about taking a day off and just relaxing or in your case healing!! DO IT!! You deserve a rest!! emoticon emoticon
