Working it

Thursday, May 16, 2013

Missed a day of logging into Spark, and ruined my 40+ day streak of that. And I've slacked in the water department, and I can definitely see it in skin condition. Yuck! I haven't caved and drank soda though! It's been 51 days without it.

Seriously behind on the wedding stuff however...finished the wedding website last night, and tracked down all but 2 of my invite addresses. Still gotta print the invites and get them ready to go in the mail. Have to make my final dress/veil/flower girl dress payment and set up my fittings too. Yikes. And order bridesmaid gifts, favors and figure out music. SO MUCH TO DO. Oh, so very little time in which to do it.

Honestly, I'm still for getting married when we pick up our marriage license in August (if not sooner than that!). I love my friends and family, and am so thankful that they'll all be there to celebrate with us, but I'm over the idea of having a wedding; I just want to be married.

Phew, okay, now that I've said that out loud, I don't feel so badly.

On to things I CAN control for the most immediate results.

It takes, on average, 21 days to break a habit or build a new one.

For the next 21 days I will:

Drink 8 glasses of water a day, but aim for more.
If I start today (05/16/13) that will bring me to (06.06.13). Yikes! June is really that close?!

I will take the stairs UP to work. That's three flights of stairs if I start on the first floor. I will work up to taking the stairs from the basement. This hurts my knees, but it'll get better with time.

I will take better care of me. This means I will:

Make an appointment with my hair dresser to get my hair under control and discuss wedding hair. (I will do this by the end of the month, and aim for an appointment on June 5th).

Invest in a teeth whitening kit, and use it!

I will look into a spray tan package so that I start building a realistic looking tan before the wedding; nothing too tan, but enough to give me some healthy color-I currently blend into my wedding dress. I'd like to stand out instead.

I think these are reasonable goals for the next 21 days!

I got my eyebrows waxed for the first time in, two months (scary, I know!) the other day, and it's amazing how much better I feel when I look in the mirror. I want to keep feeling good about myself, and for DJ to be proud to be seen out and about with me. Well, that isn't quite true, he IS proud of me, but I want to feel comfortable and put together too.

I generally improve my water consumption if I fill the designated "adult sippy" (lidded straw cup) with water early on in the day. Sipping and refilling seem to make use of old mindless munching habits.

Great list of wedding preparations, and hope it all turns out lovely. I've had good luck with the "daily" tanner/moisturizers. Every other day for 4 or 5 days seems to be a great look. I'd recommend trying one now, then watching how it fades to decide when you want to get slathered up for the big day.

Finally, I found myself here at your blog because I took a peek into the SparkPeople group of people who started the same week, back in Nov 2010. Wish I'd stuck with it the first time, wish I hadn't slacked off for 6 months recently, but still so very much better off than I was! Hope you feel the same.
