Finally closer to the light at the end of the tunnel.

It is a long story as to how I gained 40lbs, but the long and short of it is that I started working as a nurse, had crazy schedules and not the kindest co-workers.. " Eat their young mentality". I don't know why some have to behave like that, but it is an embarrassment to the profession. I also have a husband in the military who has been deployed 4 times, put raising kids with that and you just start to eat your stress away.
I went to a wedding in August for a buddy of my husbands who was deployed with him to Afghanistan. When I saw the pictures of me with my friends, I was disgusted. On September 1, 2012 I got on the scale and was at my highest ever. 180lbs.
I needed something to motivate me and keep me accountable. I started sparkpeople, Again..... I have done it a few times with no avail. This time was a bit different, I joined SparkCoach. I tried the free trial and then kept up with it. $ 7.99 is a great deal to have a coach, a motivational speaker, a trainer, a nutritionist and a Doctor at your fingertips, every single day. I can proudly say that I am down 30lbs now, I still have 10 to go for my goal, but I have changed many things in my life, the main thing is my job. I am still working as a nurse, but I went to another area of nursing, my husband is home and I have been scheduling my workouts daily as an appointment on my calendar, so my alarm goes off and I get ready as if I am going to any other important event. I also did the "couch to 5K" challenge and have done 2 so far. My goal is to do a 5K each month until I can run the whole way without walking, then I will do the 10K training. There is NOTHING, you can't do if you plan and have the right support network.
I hope this helps others, I have been very happy with the SparkCoach program and I also use all of the Sparkpeople APPS on my Iphone. The technology that we have at our fingertips can be so useful. I love that I live in this day of technology, although it can be harmful to some if abused, it has helped me keep in touch with old friends, make new friends and lose 30lbs. I say bravo to sparkpeople, and in the words of Chris.... Keep Sparking.
