C25K - Week 2, Day 2

This morning, my hubby and I completed Week 2 Day 2 of the couch to 5k program.

As I mentioned on Monday in my blog post, I felt like I had two heavy weights for legs and could not get them moving.

Well, this morning was a different story. I made sure I stretched pretty good beforehand. I also changed up my music I was listening to. I switched my Pandora station to Classic Rock workout. It pumped me up! It was a nice change! I got lost in the music and totally rocked the run this morning!

I kept up with my hubby for every running segment which I am very proud of. This was a much better improvement from Monday morning's training. Yay!

I did drool a bit this morning as I was trying to catch my breath. haha. But hey, it's all good.

I'm so happy the weather is nice and it's light out when we go running now. Comparing to when we first started the couch to 5k program this winter, I welcome this summertime like weather with open arms! I love it!

I was a bit bummed on Monday about not being able to run fast so I googled why it could be. Well, I realized that I landed on my heels when I ran and that is a no no. So, this morning, I focused on standing tall and landing each foot on the balls of my feet. I sort of compared it to rolling my toes in marching band. If we didn't roll our toes, we would stop and trip. So, I really felt the different by changing this up....felt alot more of the workout in my calves and legs, but overall it felt better. I felt balanced and I made sure to also control my hips. The article I read mentioned that you aren't supposed to let your hips swing side to side very much....that your arms and legs need to do most of the work. Good to know.

Well, anywho, it was a good workout this morning. I am in the mood for doing some yoga now since my muscles are a bit stiff, so I may do that tonight. Yep.

I've also had 5 glasses of water today so far. I'm trying to drink more water to cleanse my body. 3 more to go to get my daily 8 glasses of water in daily. Woohoo!

    I'm going to join you on the C25K thing. I am giong to start up around week 2 or 3, so maybe we can "do it" together??Check in with will keep me honest!
I'm getting ready for the dirty girl run in September. I'm more anxious to just lose more weight.

    I too am a "heel striker" and I have tried really hard to correct it, but I just suck. Like you, I feel a LOT more burning in my calves and shins when I try to run the right way. I also find that it's hard for me to run as fast. I know I really really need to work on it.

I'm glad yesterday's run was easier for you. I know from experience that you have your good days and your bad days. The important part is that you keep moving forward!

PS: Good job on drinking more water. If there's one thing that has stuck with me since I very first joined Sparkpeople, its my addiction to water. SOOOO happy I gave up diet soda. I LOVE water now and it's one of my very favorite things.
