Couch to 5k Week 1 Day 1

Yesterday, I started the Couch to 5k program. I have previously attempted this less than a year ago and fell off the bandwagon. WELL NOT THIS TIME! I'll admit I was really nervous starting this again. The first time I did Wk1/D1 it did not go very well. It absolutely kicked my butt and not even half way through it I was panting like a dog and was walking faster than I was running. Yesterday however proved to be a new day and a new me. Much to my surprise, it was relatively easy! Half way through I realized that I wasn't even really out of breath and my heart was not going to jump through my chest!
I have a few issues with running. One of them is ignorance, and the other is the fact that I am afraid to run with my heart condition. I was diagnosed with POTS syndrome about 2 years ago. In years past I had been running on a treadmill and would check my HR on the machine and more often than not it would be around 200. Here's where my ignorance comes into play. I had NO IDEA that this WAS NOT normal! I assumed that my heart felt like it was going to jump out of my chest simply because I was out of shape. Another story of my ignorance and exercise was when I was in gym class back in elementary school, after exercising the teacher would always have us calculate our HRs. Whenever I would tell them mine, they would always look at me like I was crazy and say "That's impossible, you would be dead." Now, because I have always been really bad at math I assumed that it was a math error. While that may be the case, I wonder now if it just wasn't signs then about my heart condition, but back to my C25K!
During my session yesterday, my HR was around 166bmp right after running and around 148 when I was walking. I felt really confident with those numbers! I wasn't running ridiculously fast or hard that made my HR jump up, and overall I felt great during my run.
I am very excited to continue this program, and can't wait to see my progress and completion of the program!
