Little Black Dresses

Wednesday, May 15, 2013

My friend is getting married this weekend and it's black and white themed wedding. So I assume we are to wear black or white? Oh well I went to goodwill and started hunting for a black dress. There are a few things you can find at goodwill with no problem. Too many coats you will never need and too many amazing dresses you will never have enough amazing occasions to wear them to. I ended up getting this dress for $6.99. I also found Scott a nice fitted black and white shirt. There really is no point in getting dress clothes new. So much good stuff at goodwill that ppl wear once and give away.

This was one of the dresses I carried around. It was also $6.99 and I am sure if I bought it, I would have no where to wear it to. So i just enjoyed taking pictures in it and saved the 7 dollars.

Yesterday was my last day at my job. I am used to staying so busy, I might go nuts. I applied for 3 jobs this morning. Watered all the plants, took the dogs to the graveyard for a long walk, made husband breakfast and lunch. In theory having no job sounds good. But really I think I will miss humans pretty fast and be super needy when husband gets home. I still have my other job its just only 9-15 hrs a week. Hopefully something will come thru. Police jobs keep calling to me for some reason. Complete opposite direction from what I am looking for. But still they seem to be popping up like nuts. Everyone I tell that too says "dangerous!". Yeah they are probably right.

I went on a 4 mile run with Scott last night. I think running at night after dinner settles is good for me. Then I am not starving all day and I wake up light in the morning. 156.4 today, yippee!

Ok my photos have been pretty much all food. Sorry. Hopefully I get a little more technical now that I have no work exuse

Day 105: Allium is popping open

Day 106: Ratatouille on Polenta from scratch, another recipe from my book. This recipe was even better the next day.

Day 107: Mothers Day, Scott and his mom.

Day 108: Broccolini Cheddar melt, I used broccoli instead. Another from my book.

Day 109: Potato Salad with green & white beans. Served with olive bread and feather ridge cheese. Yes another from my book lol except the cheese was stolen from my husband who has been getting into local aged cheese lately.

Day 110: Life is still celebrated even in the graveyard.

Yeah, I'm confused, which dress did you buy? (You look great in the b&w one! Could dress it up or down!)

We had a b&w wedding, mostly because my MOH had a lovely offwhite dress and I didn't want her to have to buy anything else.

And I donated my wedding dress and veil to an organization that sells gently used wedding dresses (so lower income people can buy something without breaking the bank) - and proceeds help support breast cancer treatment for low income women. I get a tax deduction, and don't have a dress in a box for the rest of my life. Win win win! (I did wear the dress twice - once for the wedding, and then the following morning for bkfst because my bag was locked in DH's car.)

Have you ever heard of Find a Grave? It's a free site to document graves. I enjoy volunteering to take photos for people who'd like to see a relatives stone and don't live close by. Just thought you might be interested to at least look at the page for the cemetary near you. (my co-workers think I've very wierd for this!)

I know next to nothing about weddings but thought that the only one who was supposed to wear white was the bride.

I was shocked to see that they had wedding gowns at Goodwill. For some reason I thought people kept those after they married. Our Goodwill is not as nice as others in the area but they do have formals and such.

Weddings make me nervous. I didn't want one and got married with the minimal people there both times. I have some kind of phobia about them. The same with funerals. The flower smells all mixing together really bother me. The eerie organ music. The dead body all painted up. I end up feeling sick.

I'm confused. Did you buy the black dress or the striped dress? I like both but I really love the black and white striped dress. Normally I don't even like stripes but they look great on you. I hate dresses, in general, and seldom wear them. I hope that I never get to the point where I have to wear them all the time to go to funerals and such.

Police job are often pretty boring and the hours are horrible. They are always needing police matrons in my area. It's a terrible job here. My friend's niece did it for a while as she was a dispatcher and they needed someone. You end up dealing with a lot of skanky people. And they seem to always have the matrons do the cooking which seems rather sexist to me. We used to get prisoners at the hospital where I worked and they had guards. The male prisoners were much better to deal with than the female ones. I think you would have no trouble handling the job if you wanted to do it.

Loved the pictures!
