May 15th - Rant/Goals/Results

Wednesday, May 15, 2013

So last night I had this tasty and wonderful salad. Romaine lettuce, broccoli, blackberries, cherry tomatoes, croutons, salad toppins, balsamic dressing, chicken...etc. You get the idea. Healthy, tasty and I enjoyed eating it. But why does my body scream at me after eating such healthy wonderful food. It makes trying to eat healthy discouraging. My stomach was bloated and cramping all night...even had some residual this morning. I want to eat more salads and healthy foods, but if this is what is going to happen, I really can't see myself getting any better.

Ok enough of that...I am not going to give up just yet. Need to keep trying and hope the body will adjust and not continue to drive me crazy.

Okay, I forgot about what I do when I get that way, and it's drinking peppermint tea. When I get bloated I drink it and it works. Sometimes when I know I will be getting bloated from what I am eating I'll drink it with my meal.

Hope this helps.

I know if you try to eat too much fiber all at once that happens. Start out with one more serving than you normally eat. Do that for a few days, and then do another until you are where you want to be. It just takes getting use to.

Hang in there!

Ooooh that sounds miserable! I see that you don't have many freggies in your usual diet, perhaps you have overloaded your system all at once. How about if you restart with two servings, then the next day have three, then when your system is used to it, four, then five? And if you stick with vegetables, add fruit in later once the tummy is used to it? And also, I have found, having only three different vegetables in one sitting is easier for the digestion. I think it tastes a bit better, too. You can have more servings of the same vegetable.
Good luck with this, vegetables are such a joy!

You might want to talk to a doctor or nutritian about it. Everyone's system reacts to food differently. Don't get discouraged or speculate. I've been there. All the best.
