It *did* get HOT, as promised

Wednesday, May 15, 2013

Mid-afternoon we had dueling cell phone apps saying 96 F and 100 F! So I took it nice and easy biking home. emoticon There was a nice breeze, so I didn't notice the buckets of sweat until I got home and came inside and the breeze stopped evaporating it in place. Additional hydration was in order!

And of course with that sun beating down, I didn't want to try to compete by watering at the same time, so this morning I did not go back to bed after taking my thyroid pill at 4:20, but got into sweats and started dragging hoses around in the pre-dawn dark.

This of course, messes with my normal routine of dress, pack lunch, cook the steel cut oats, and sit down to Spark.

Don't know about the rest of you Sparklers, but when I do things in an odd order, that's when I lose things or miss a step... thus my status... hope I remember to go get dressed before I go to work! emoticon

There's a method to this madness, actually two. One, I'm watering while the ground has a chance to actually retain some of the moisture. Two... my training schedule says "run" today, and I want to be able to go outside guilt-free after work to get my minutes / miles in! Win-win! emoticon

Glitches seem to multiply on these kind of days - I refer to them as 'Murphy days' (after Murphy's law) - if anything can go wrong, it will!

I can't even imagine dealing with that heat! Maybe pool time is in order instead of a run? Stay safe!

Oh, yeah: I'm in trouble when I change up my routine even slightly. That's when I lose things, or forget to take any underwear to the gym!

Thanks for your comment on my four year blog . . . totally agree that different people come into our lives at different times for a reason and it's best to simply enjoy without "clinging" when time to move on.

Doing things out of order in the mornings (in a zombie-like state) makes me feel like I'm going around in circles! Hence, why I forgot to pack my sunscreen and running hat emoticon no beach run for me today.

Oh we are all such creatures of habit. If the routine isn't followed it just doesn't feel right to me! I am flexible, but have to be really conscious of what I'm doing or I'll mess up too!

I didn't realize you have thyroid disease -- me too! It's a challenge with the season changes for me. It takes my body a little while to get acclimated as the weather gets warmer. Generally feel better when the temps are in the 60-70 degree range.

HUGS and here's to a good Wednesday.

Good job on the bike ride. Good job on watering the lawn when it will do good. And good job on challenging your brain by shaking up the routine. Hope it all does come together. Have a great run this evening!! -Marsha

I'm going to take a emoticon check on emoticon tomorrow. We're going to the season opener of the Saltdogs next Thursday, so I would miss 4 emoticon leagues in a row...

Great blog! I like to think I'm not a creature of habit, yet find my stress level rising when things get too far off track.... Enjoy your day!!!

We are creatures of habit - funny how the smallest determent can really mess us up! I'm anxious to get the garden planted but this crazy weather has me holding off. We had frost over the weekend, then 80's yesterday...we'll see what the rest of the week brings!

Glad you had some heat, we have gone to our rv which we have parked seasonal and the seaason opened May 10, well I am sitting here with the heat on at 68 and have 2 sweaters on and am so cold. It is super damp as it rained last night. Was to go down to 4C, but by tomorrow up to 18. geesh what diff. in temps still Oh well we have furnace, winter sheets and blankets on the bed and will be fine. LOL if t would stop raining mostly at night thank heavens we would be better.
But lol no sense complaining as it ws our choice and we want to see what it will be like cos we may chose to do this full time well 6 months of the year as our province says you have to be here 5 months minus a day to continue health insurance.
have a super day and enjoyyour heat for me!

We have to water in the pre-dawn hours or the water would have no effect as the sun would sizzle it all away -- that's what the automatic underground sprinklers are for. But getting up early and doing something so ambitious must thoroughly wake you up and prepare you for the day!
