boy am I tired

Tuesday, May 14, 2013

second party out of the way, this time the garden club met at my house and though it was hot, we had a breeze that made it tolerable. I didn't take very many photos, I am very tired I was up all night making food items so I only got one hour sleep before my brain woke me up and said 'you gotta clean house and put away dishes'. I tried my hand for the first time at making veggie spring rolls with Thai peanut ginger coconut sauce (it was a learning experience handling the rice sheets before they got too soft to fill and roll). I also decorated the plate with cucumber and tomato (something I saw on a blog)

I also made deviled eggs with avocado-cilantro hummus and using spinach and olives to make spiders and owls (also seen on a blog)

and I made some desserts. I had a huge can of peach pie filling I got for $1.50 so I made individual pies using cookie dough as the crust, and streusel topping, as well as peach pie with pie crust (and whipped cream to accessorize lol)

and I made bird nests with crispy chow mein noodles, coconut and chocolate (also seen on a blog)

you might get a better angle of it like this

and lastly, I made peanut butter fudge, not blog inspired lol

knowing it was gonna be hot today I provided the drinks at a station, and got to use my XMAS present from Mom for the first time with sun tea and virgin pina colada, and I had an ice chest with bottled water, with sliced lemons for garnish and an ice bucket at the ready

I didn't think to have hubby get a photo of the whole group so I'm not in any of these photos, but some of us were rather fashionable and some came with sun hats

the gals checked out my garden and asked a few questions about some of the plants

I wasn't sure how many were going to show up, but we waited a bit before we started lunch and sure enough one person came 45 min late (they got lost, hadn't been to my home before). Here are the choices for lunch (we had a lot of desserts)

we played a game (I sucked at it BTW) and the winner won a bouquet of flowers in a vase, the winner later gave it to me for being such a nice hostess (okay in unison now AWWW)
my mother brought me some plants, this epiphyllum was in bloom

and this blue delphinium

everyone thanked me for the party and said then enjoyed my garden and even complimented hubby (he cleaned the dishes and bowls so people could take home clean implements) and he gave all the praise for my garden to me since he doesn't do ANY gardening not even mowing. So...that's two parties down and one to go, my last High Tea with my other red hat chapter is on Sunday and I need to rest up before then.

one last thing, DWTS is coming to a close in a week but SYTYCD starts tonight, so I'm all excited about that. I chat in a chatroom with a friend from Canada and we love to critique all the dancing (yeah as if we were experts at this, but we do know what we like) so I might fall asleep watching the elimination show tonight, but I hope not
