I did it my way

Tuesday, May 14, 2013

" Do not follow where the path may lead... Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail." Ralph Waldo Emerson

"Let the record show, I took the blows ,and did it my way" A line from one my father-in law's Richard's favorite song ,sung by the great Frank Sinatra.

What a great way to live doing things your way not because everyone else did it but because it pleases you. Richard was a plumber, and electrician ,and dabbled a little in construction , then he started work as a school janitor.

My father in law always brought fun to every outing once he showed up there was a party. You could always hear him yelling a happy comment across the room. See him patting someone on the back or giving out hugs. He never let life come to him he went and grabbed life and lived it his way.

He rooted for years for his beloved under dog team the Red Sox. He didn't follow the crowd when others turned to different teams no way he became more loyal.

I took his lead yesterday when I was the only one working out on the weights in the girls side of the gym. I felt uncomfortable and was ready to get on the treadmill like everyone else, when I decided to raise my glass to Richard. I not only lifted weights but added a few unconventional moves also.

So in the memory of my father-in law Richard Page I will live the rest of my life my way and do it with class and style just like he did.

If you live life your way you will never be disappointed. emoticon
I am glad you stayed and lifted weights alone. Maybe someone on the treadmill will see you and decide to join you

Awesome! This was a wonderful tribute to your late father-in-law, and very brave! I don't think I'd have the guts to be the only woman in the weights section at the gym, lol! Kudos to you!

That made me jump out of joy! Great work showing the men and women that nothing is impossible or tabu! That strength is also for us! Hope you enjoyed your exercise and perhaps you inspired someone there to give it a try!
