I'm trying this EAt to Live program again. We did this a few years ago and had some good results and some of the habits stayed with us - eating less starches... less bread etc.... for those of you who aren't familiar with this plan - check it out on the internet - - - Eat to Live is a book/program by Dr. Joel Fuhrman...
Hubby is doing it with me. We are not fanatics - but we are doing it 95% - I'm refusing to give up my morning coffee at this point and once a week we will enjoy a beer or a glass of wine with Saturday night dinner.... But overall we are doing the eating fruit, salads, veggies and beans - throw in some nuts.... and I know by next weekend I'll grill a chicken breast to toss on top of the evening meal.
Yes it is a bit tough to follow at the start. We started on a friday to see if we could make it through the weekend and it was okay. Mr missed his eggs and sausages but besides that he loves fresh stuff so he isn't too cranky yet...
I'm feeling really good. My mood is happy. I know different foods with float through my brain and I will want this or that - but I'm telling myself to just do this for a few weeks and see how it goes.
I cleaned out the fridge at home so everything is fresh and orderly. I brought my salad with nuts and some fruit to work so I don't eat the stuff the boys are eating.... tonight I made them a homemade hamburger helper kind of dish with steamed beans and carrots on the side. They are getting the hang of eating more fresh stuff now that we changed the menus around... and it is true that we have less problems with behaviour - more stable moods as we are cooking more from scratch and feeding them healthier options.
I'm looking forward to eating better- really putting an effort into it. It makes me feel like I'm slimmer and trimmer just from a few days of making good choices. No I'm not stepping on the scale till friday - I am curing myself of my daily scale addiction at the same time...... but I am tracking all my food and I've been doing yardwork and hauling wood the last few days so all the fresh air has made me a happy girl.
The weather is also finally turning here - spring is finally sticking around. So lots to be thankful for - good food, good health, good weather - that's a great trifecta for me!
