Another great day at CrossFit. I could get used to this!
I've been trying to hit 83# on the press for FOREVER. Or like 5 months. Same thing. Last time I tried, I got fed up, so added two .25# plates and PR'd by .5# at 80.5. Ha. Today I finally made it. It was a bit of a fight to get it up, but I did it!
Every other minute, on the minute, for 10 minutes:
30 Russian KB swings (Rx=53#)
You have 1 minute to get 30 KB swings. If you do not get 30 KB Swings in 1 minute, count a penalty. Each penalty is worth 5 burpees, to be completed immediately upon finishing the last set of swings.
I had been thinking all day about trying to Rx it, but when I got to the gym, I didn't see very many Rxs on the board. After talking to my coach, I decided to go for it, but had a back up 45# KB just in case. I figured if I could make it through 3 rounds, 10 burpees wouldn't be that bad at all. We have done a similar WOD before, with American KB swings and a 1k row penalty. I think I got 3 penalties and used a 26# KB, so I was a little nervous about this. To my surprise, I finished without any penalties easily. It took me almost exactly 48 seconds to finish the swings every round. My grip started to give out during the last minute, so I even put it down for a couple seconds and finished no problem. Russian KB swings, I love you!
